Welcome to my blog. I’m Ariel. I am a senior at Louisiana State University studying Mass Communication with a concentration in Public Relations. I have two minors in English and Music.
As a first generation student, I knew that college was going to be part of my life’s journey.
Why Did I Start a Blog?
Inspired from one of my favorite childhood shows, Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide, I began this blog! Being a first generation student, I didn’t know much about college aside from movies and what my classmates told me.
I didn’t have any one to guide me on how to manage the workload, socializing in college, and what to take with me!
I started this blog to help other students prepare for college. There were many lessons that I learned so far and can’t wait to write about them!
College Is an Investment
I didn’t realize this until my second semester of college. University life, a heavily marketed, business targets young, impressionable high school students. Most of us are told that college is the only way to get a decent job. We’re bombarded with letters, event days, and special viewing days of the campus.
With student debt climbing we must realize that college is a HUGE step in our lives that can lead to so many decisions. Yes, this is the time to discover who you are and have personal growth. Yet, we need to be practical and make wise decisions.
We put so much money into college which makes it an investment. Thousands of dollars, 3-5 years of school, and our mental health are what we give. What do we get in return? What do we want in return?
Realizing that college is an investment will change your outlook and journey.
